I'm

About

I love working with different people across different skillsets, as this allows me to both gain insights from them and collectively craft innovative solutions. I discovered this through my commitment to extracurricular projects such as the Srivastava polymer lab, UCLA climbing, AIChE, Singapore Students' Association, and Bruin Earth Solutions. I find that learning beyond the classroom is not only liberating but also the most effective way to embrace challenges, learn from mistakes, and cultivate valuable skills.

My passion for cooking stems from my love for the infinite creative ways to actualize my ideas mixed in with science and technical skills. Similarly, climbing provides me with an outlet to destress and the problem solving aspect of bouldering never ceases to intrigue me.

Chemical Engineer & Product Manager

  • Degree: Bachelors in Chemical Engineering
  • Looking for: Product Management Internship

Although I will always love the problem solving aspect and intellectual concepts of chemical engineering, I find myself wanting more. In all my clubs and projects, the thing I enjoy the most is connecting different people together and working with them to produce work that no single person could on their own. I feel the most fulfilled at the end of every project knowing that what we created was a collective effort and more than the sum of its parts.

Skills

These are some of the technical skills I've acquired over the years, either through formal classes or
side projects - such as learning HTML/JS/CSS to code this website - and my confidence in them.

Matlab 80%
Arduino 60%
Mandarin 90%
Asana 80%
MS Office 85%
HTML 50%

Professional Experience

Undergraduate Researcher

Mar 2022 - Present

Srivastava Lab, UCLA

  • Designed an image processing software to automate the separation of conventional mattresses from latex mattresses
  • Developed FTIR analysis software to enable 4000 points of raw data each sample to be converted into easily analyzed information, in the form of graphs, while being able to simultaeneously run as many samples as required
  • Performed a large variety of physical and chemical tests to determine KPIs to build a correlational database to classify conventional mattresses, allowing one test to extrapolate multiple qualities, reducing the resources required for mattress recycling facilities

Process Engineering Intern

Jun 2023 - Sept 2023

Domtar, Bennetsville, South Carolina

  • Underwent rotational training in the field to gain practical understanding of paper mill operations, including machinery maintenance, water treatment, pulp manufacturing, etc.
  • Leveraged pulp testing to establish a feedback loop for product quality enhancement based on specifications
  • Utilized acquired knowledge to strategically plan machinery inspection routes, collaborating with technicians through effective communication to streamline workflows and optimize operational efficiency

Personal Trainer

Jun 2020 - Jul 2021

The District Training, Singapore

  • Reconfigured company operations by designing a gold standard workshop (8-week handstand workshop for beginners) which was used as a framework for training employees and for future workshops
  • Enabled the seamless marketing of workshops as a key product line instead of the individual trainers’ skill which is more quantifiable, especially for newer trainers with fewer credentials
  • Designed a data-driven approach to customize workouts for each private client based on improvement over time obtained through multiple different avenues including weight loss, measurements, and monthly tests depending on customer goals
